Part 1 Start at the beginning

This post is about my journey from flood to Fabulous…I will be updating as time permits and things change. Seems to be a slow slow process.

On Feb. 26th we woke up at 5am to a flooded kitchen. Our water heater exploded! I’m going to skip the part about how horrible our insurance company was…I can’t even talk about that with out getting mad.

Fast forward 7 days when we finally got the okay to clean up the water. Tearing up the floor that had buckled led us to ruined bottom cabinets, lower drywall, and four layers of flooring to pull up. Wet, stinky, and oh so fun! Since the Evil insurance company wouldn’t pay to match the uppers and we knew that it had to be done to look right. Hey if you are gonna tear it up why not do it right! I originally had ugly sliding mirrored doors that led to a small pantry area and washer and dryer. I had to open these ugly doors to do laundry in the kitchen..ugh! Nothing like getting up half awake and seeing yourself in full length mirrors. Half the time I jumped thinking it was a monster. No one should ever see themselves in that much mirror before coffee. :)

Let me say this to anyone who might have to go through this kind of trauma. When an insurance agent tells you that clean water doesn’t grow mold…call his manager. If he lets it set their for 7 days it will. The last picture above is a cabinet he said they could fix…ugh gross.

4/25/12 This has turned into everything down to the studs. Living room had paper towels used as insulation around the windows. Laundry closet had beer cans to patch holes..water got into the dining room after sitting for 7 days.  Exposed wires in every wall..this was a blessing in disguise. We where a fire waiting to happen.

4/28/12 I am at my wits end with delays and wrenches being tossed in my plans.  Today while out getting primer we stopped at the Springfield Antique Barn to kill some time. I found a great old ironing board. The top is beautiful wood and the legs are great red metal..just starting to rust. Shopping makes me feel better. I can’t wait to have an actual walk in laundry room.
