From flood to fabulous…I hope.

Flooring

These decisions are causing way to much stress. Shouldn’t this be fun? I promise I’m trying but, a budget and life long decisions are ruining the fun.

Tile:

The Laundry (This is extra exciting because before the flood it was a closet pantry that was in the kitchen.  NO more laundry laying around my kitchen!

The tile we picked out turned out beautiful. For .79 a square foot my laundry room has beautiful tile! I had low expectations because of the price. Wow! I’m in Love! We got the tile at the Super Surplus Store in Madison, TN. Very helpful. Be sure to look at the tile before laying some have damage and a different color or hue. Well worth it for .79 a square foot!

The Kitchen I went totally different but keeping in with my love for all things grey (gray), I went with a long tile in a brick stack. <3

This also came from the Super Surplus Store.

Hardwood (Bamboo)

Dining Room, Living Room, and Den

Well I consider my self an expert in hardwood now…no not really but boy you have so much to choose from you better learn all you can. We plan on living in this house forever! As long as they don’t build around us we are here to stay.  I do not want to change this again in my lifetime. After hearing a horror story about bamboo that was the first to go off the list. Then just about ever other wood was off our list because of either price or softness. We have two large pit bulls and I could just imagine the scratches from dumb and dumber trying to get traction because of the squirrel by the window. Okay I say that with all the love in the world..they aren’t dumb they are “special”.

I wanted a dark wood, with a handscraped look. Not gonna happen under $4.00. We drove an hour away to Lumber Liquidators and got more discouraged until a guy asked why we didn’t want Bamboo. I told him it was because we had dogs. He asked if we had heard of Strand Bamboo. He showed us a piece and took another piece of wood and beat on it then took a key to it. Not a scratch! Strand Bamboo is weaved together in a cross pattern. So long story short we got the bamboo. Very happy with it.
