Guest Bath Makeover

Sometimes oops works out!

Thinking we would have to put the old mirror back ( I hate frameless mirrors.) I went a different way with the cabinet. I liked the way it looked but the mirror I had would be perfect in there and was totally worth changing the painted cabinets. The first experiment on the cabinets was Annie Sloan Chalk paint half Lois Blue and half Paris Grey then I watered down some old ochre and used it like a glaze. Wipe on small area and wipe off with a paper towel. Looked great but not the look I was going for. Would work great if you are wanting a light beachy look.

We changed the floors with sticky vinyl squares for $45.00. Half a day project. Hint use a piece of craft paper to trace out around toilets and small spaces. Getting it just right then trace onto the tile. Saved us a lot of time and tile.

I used Annie Sloan Chalk paint 1 coat about $8.00 worth of paint. I glazed over it with left over ebony antique glaze. It came with a pewter kit I’ve had for years. I had to keep adding water to it. Wiped on in a small area and used a paper towel to wipe off and kind of rub in the chalk paint. Hard to explain. It was a complete accident/experiment that I really liked. Keep a wet rag available and move fast. Use the wet rag as an eraser if you don’t like the look. That cost about $12.00 if you count all the paper towels I had to use :)

The medicine cabinet and mirror were painted in my left over Fireplace makeover paint. Then painted over with Martha Stewart’s Thundercloud Metallic paint.  I’m really liking her metallic paints. I’m fixing to use the Coffee glaze :) So that was under $10.00. Had the shower curtain. I bought it 2 years ago..just because I loved it. :)

The Guest bath is painted in Porter paints Chalky Blue. $25.00.

So far this has been about $100.00. We still have some finishing touches to do like shoe mold, lighting and new switches. This room wasn’t damaged during the flood but the drywall job was horrible so while the guys where here I asked how much more to skim the walls and he said nothing. So heck yeah why not!
